There have been recent fallacious and inflammatory accusations regarding blog update habits. Shame on you, it isn't the kitten's fault that it doesn't have opposable thumbs. Properly shamed yet? (Think of the poor kitten some more). Good.

The eye drops call too me....
I bought them yesterday on a whim, just a "You know sometimes my eyes hurt, I'll try them." But now... now they sit on my desk begging me to use them even though I don't like putting them in my eyes. I've already used them yesterday and this afternoon. I'm also afraid that I'll pull out one of my mint drop bottles and “freshen” my eyes straight into a hospital.

How exactly does one humble himself over the phone? True groveling can only be done in person so far as I can tell… I’d really be interested if any of you knew how to grovel. I think we need to get a groveling discussion going in the comments section in fact. Here’s the question:
How does one grovel over the phone/MSN?

Discuss.

I found this as I was cleaning up old files on my computers. This is an absolutely terrible story I wrote in early 2003. Enjoy.
(Two posts in one day? When will the madness end??)

dave: a story
morphine: mhm
dave: hmmmm
dave: long long ago in a small novelty store far far away...
dave: a man named jack was about to meet his destiny
dave: you see jack wasn't a particularly small man, nor an especially large one. in fact you might just call him moderately sized
morphine: average maybe?
dave: no, never average for jack was anything but!
dave: (except in size, personality and dental habits)
morphine: ah
dave: jack was there on a quest given to him by john, downsville tire king extrodinare, to find the golden gun of little flags that say 'bang'
morphine: uh huh
dave: jack, being a knight of the rubber table (voted best michalen salesmen 3 weeks running)
dave: took this quest with extreme graveity
dave: what he hadn't counted on however were the evil swarming death commision-salesmen!
morphine: of course
dave: quickly he was surrounded by hoards of them, leeching cash like small lawers, all demanding his attention
dave: during the battle to fend off their advances and expensive warenty plans jack scumbled to a well placed sales pitch
morphine: scumbled?
dave: it was messy, his walet was open and his visa was already maxed out (it's a word)
morphine: uh huh
dave: it was time to use he secret weapon, you see jack wasn't your average knight of the rubber table (voted best tire salesmen 3 weeks running), no jack had something that placed him above and beyond. you see jack knew the unknowable... he alone held the greatest secret in the universe
morphine: being?
dave: he knew what made george bush stay popular with the american public!!
morphine: no!
dave: revealing that which can not be known screams of dieing salesmen fills the room and jack escapes with his credit rating in the nick of time
morphine: i see
dave: (sorry a friend call with a crisis)
morphine: no problem

Round Table Rush

Ok, so there are several options for rooming next year, but the more I look at them the less I like them. When my friends began to consider selective housing as an alternative I was considerably less than enthusiastic about it, after all if I lived with my friends next year why should I care where I lived? All of the dorms are more of less good. Even if I was to be shuffled off to central for senior and possibly junior year it didn't matter all that much too me. But now my friends were rushing *insert menacing music*. Sure the location is good, but will they let us all in? Will we be split up? Probably. I hate competing for a place, especially when it means that several others won't make it in. And what if it turns out I'm not suited for it; several of the roundtablers are scholars of one kind or another, and my grades weren't stellar last term. So we have come to the conclusion that I stand firmly against rushing selective housing ok?

Good.

I'm rushing selective housing. Not only am I doing it but I'm taking it seriously, I will attend as many of the events as possible, get to know as many of the people as I can, do at least 3 drafts of the application (which I have re-typed because I think turning in a handwritten copy would be sloppy). I've gotten too know exactly what Round Table stands for (3 pillars - Student Student, Student Faculty, Student Community), and god help me, I'm nervous/excited about the whole thing. I'll be doing something with them every night between now and the 7th when interviews start. Will I get in? Should I care?
I do care. I will do my best. This could be a moment that will shape the next 3 years of my life.

It's Martin Luther King day, the only day the school is going to give me off between now and the end of the semester (minus spring break of course), and I figure I should use it to help boost my class ranking which is disturbingly low from last semester. But fear not companions, for I have a plan! No Sunday is allowed to pass in which I have not finished the entirety of my work for the week. And so here I am, caught up with my work and working ahead so that I may enjoy the rest of the week. Huzza.

Anyways the long weekend has been nice, Saturday night had to be one of the best parties I'd been to all year. Not a whole lot to say about it really, although they had good drinks other than beer and they were sharing them freely with both females and males. Where will the craziness end?! Sorority rush is over and Frat/Selective housing rush is beginning. Congrats to my friend who've made it into their chosen sororities, and good luck to those of my friends who are going for selective housing. (None of my friends see themselves in "frats", although I do feel guilty for not putting in an appearance at the Chi Psi events. Sorry Devin but I don't see myself joining). Looks like next year I could be rooming with Varun, and blocking with a bunch of people [Me, Varun, Sashank, Brook, Kathy(RA?), Alex(Selective?), etc.] We shall see.

I've always preferred to deal with rational people in rational conversation (silliness aside, for silliness is always good) and so when I do get a bit petulant and childish it always surprises me. Just want to say sorry about that, never meant to guilt but I learned from the best and it's a hard habit to shake. If any of you Torontonians were to actually go so far as dropping me a line I'd certainly appreciate it, so give it some thought. Anyways I should get back to the exciting world of Physics; I just needed this rant to refresh my brain a little bit,

My life is timeshifted. This, right now, 1:12am is my evening. I want to talk to people online, and call a certain someone and chat for the next hour or two. Buuuuuuuuut every normal person has been asleep for quite some time and I'm left alone wishing I'd done all of that stuff earlier. Oh well... I did get to see a bunch of the people who were back, although even more of them are tenting (I'll see those people tomorrow).

God it feels good to be back. Something about this place, the air, the atmosphere, the.... everything. This is it for me, almost perfect, and I love it. If only I could share it with a certain someone it would be perfect... a month isn't that long *sigh*. That shall be my strength, my mantra.
"A month is not that long, she'll be here before you know it"

Charlie Brown had excellent taist in music.

Another day, another entertaining snapshot of my life. A car is a wonderful tool if you're behind the wheel and not afriad to hold someone against her will for a few minutes (lets call it creatively interperting her wishes).

I'm back to Duke tomorrow. There are things I can't wait to see, and things that I suppose I could do without. But then you can say that about any area, especially this city. Tonight I got to see something I'll miss more than I ever thought I would, and it was a night to remember (especially when certain people may or may not be sick with a certain throat cold - remember *fondly*). It's been quite a month, and so, adios people, I'm going on my break! (and no that doesn't apply to you. You still have to put up with me, I'll make sure of it).

BBB Dave.

(The B's stand for Burger Boy... but wait! Where did the extra B come from? The mystery!)
